Please take our Surveys!

In math, we are exploring different kinds of graphs.  After our bird banding field trip, we created two different graphs based on the information the Nature Center collects every year during bird banding.  Then we decided to create our own graphs, but we needed information to do that!  We got into small groups and picked a topic.  Then we wrote five survey questions about that topic.  Please take our surveys, as we are going to use the information to create and analyze our own graphs!

Please note that we are asking for location and age but we are NOT collecting names.  We want to see how far across the world people take our surveys, and how old people are who are taking it!

Thank you!!

Reading Month: Bookmark Contest!

By Blake

We did a bookmark project for the second week of March, which is reading month. We all made bookmarks which are due Wednesday March 12th, 2014. People have 2 days to work on it. So, we started on Monday March 10th, 2014.

We had a contest for who had the best bookmark. Whoever won got to give a free copy to everyone in the class. On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, 9 out of 24 bookmarks were back at school in room 205. The fraction for that is 9/24.

One person did a mental image, probably of a book that he/she read. Another person did “Read ‘til you fall asleep.” Others did “Step into somebody else’s shoes when you read a book.” Or “Spring into a book.” It was awesome!

Ford Rouge Factory Field Trip

By Chloe

On the way to the factory we had to take a long bus ride. We got lost and ended up near the bridge to Canada. Finally we got there and started off to see the assembly line. It was fun to see the parts being carried to one place to another. The workers smiled at us and carried on with their work. After, we saw the finished F150. We saw people driving them around. Then we got to see the green roof from the observation tower.  We saw crickets and the drainage of the parking lot.
We went down a big elevator and into a movie room. We saw the history of Ford. We saw how they made some of the older cars like the Model T. The first movie was not loud but the next was so loud you could feel it in your heart! It was a stimulation. At some points the fans came on and there was a mist. The ground even shook once! We sat in chairs that spun around so that you could see one of the seven screens. After that, we went to go get lunch. Lucky on the way back we did NOT get lost!!!

MaKeyMaKey!

Our first chance to play with the MaKeyMaKey!  We got to play a piano
that was found online and it was so neat!

After everyone got their chance with the piano, we tried to play PacMan!

Then we started experimenting with complete circuits, to see what we
could connect to the MaKeyMakey!

Reading Month: Door Decorating!

Check out our classroom door!
It's going to look really neat when everyone finishes their book covers!
