Animal Discovery!

Extra Extra read all about it new animal discoveries at Conant Elementary. At Conant Elementary we are putting two animals together to get one animal like a Wolverhino (a Wolverine and a rhino together) a Dorse (Dog and Horse) and lastly a Deal (Dog and a seal). You may be asking why we are doing this and the answer is for PYP we had to do this to learn about animal adaptation and classification.

In the first picture to the third picture we are working on our slides to present to the other classmates and parents.

In the last two pictures we are working hard and quietly to record our speech that we had to work on to present to our parents.

Science Fun!

By Madden and Masah

For our family project in December, we got to do a science experiment! We had two weeks to pick one that we wanted to do, practice it with our family, and fill out the scientific method sheet.
Then, once we all picked our science experiments, we shared them at school. One of the best ones was a really neat one with mentos and Coke and Diet Coke! It was so cool when the bottles exploded! We did that one outside on the blacktop.

Another cool one was making putting drops of food coloring in milk with soap. The spread out like fireworks! That was a radical day!

Math Pentathalon

By Madden and Masah

In class we have been learning Math Pentathalon games. There are five games to play.  So far we learned how to play FIAR and Kwatro Sinko.

FIAR stands for four in a row.  This is how you play. You have a board and you place your chips down trying to get four in a row.  Once all your chips are placed down on the board, you can slide them around to get to four in a row without your opponent stopping you.

This is how you play Kwarto Sinko.  The pieces are numbered 0 - 9.  They are on red chips or blue chips.  Your goal is to add two chips together and subtract the other chip to make a sum of 4 or 5.  It is a lot harder than it sounds, but it is also fun!

Kahoot!

By Masah and Madden

This is us playing Kahoot. Kahoot is a game you play with a partner and you try to answer math, reading, and spelling questions as quick you can. To play, you have to log in to the game from anything that gets you on the internet. There is this music that plays while you wait.

To answer questions, the question shows up on the big screen, and there are four shapes on the bottom. Each shape is a different answer. You read the board for what each shape means, and then press the shape you think is the right answer. There's music that plays while you're thinking, too!

It is so much fun to play Kahoot! It is like a competition with everyone, and you see how well you are doing. The places are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th and it also says who you are behind. This is Kahoot!
